Creating an Advertisement: Ideas and Initial Research

Initial research for creating an advertising

In class we are tasked with designing an advertisement and before I we even start planning out that advertising, we need to analyze some advertisement and see what we can learn from them. The first one I've picked out to study about is a poster from a campaign that apple ran for its 2009 iPod release.

This was a press release photo apple release to the media for its event to release new products which included the 2009 iPods.  The image is a sillout of young girl who is who dancing while listening to her iPod, her background is pink gradient with geometric designs which are associated party lights and environment. The ad adds emphasis on the fact their product is for the younger music loving generations, especially with their tagline 'It's only rock and roll, but we like it' indicated that the younger audience's passion for music and the sillout allows any person to associate themselves with that product. The fact that ad is in horizontal and the Apple logo and the iPod both being in white makes them

Another advertisement we'll look at is by Marmite. The advertisement is simple and bold, it uses the color of the the product is itself and uses bold letters in its text to question the viewer and the product itself is bold and center as if it is the answer to the question that is being posed by the advertisement making the product more important in that sense and the tagline at the bottom isn't as intrusive as the questions but it uses the same font color making it pop from the overall ad.

The use of two-three tones colors and an overall minimalistic design makes them not only modern and appealing to the younger and newer audiences but also introduces a new age in media creation and writing as you can cause a bigger impact with less words and actions on ads and that's the direction I want to take, 'Use less but impact more'.

  1. Good that you analysed the two adverts. However, you need to talk about how have they inspired you to create your own advert? You need to add a little more commentary to write what ideas did they give you to create your own advert and what did you learn from them.
