Creative writing Project: Generating ideas for Chapbook

 

So we have decided to work on out next major project which is going to be Chapbook. A Chapbook is 15 to 30 page small book. Made in 17th Century, it was mainly aimed at younger readers to get them interested in reading.

There are many different types of Chapbooks such as;

Narrative:  The main idea is to tell a story for this one.
Recount: A collection of an event or an incident that transpired
Procedure: This one tells a method or a process to do an action
Report: An explanation on an in depth perspective on a subject matter
Explanation: A very detailed definition
Persuasive: This is more of an personal argument or an appeal to consider one's perspective

and many many more.

There are many different types of Chapbooks and to a degree it is not limited the standard formats as it can sometimes even be a picture book.

I was even suggested doing an obituary or something factual, something like even this:

But I have decided against it. I have decided to write a Narrative based Chapbook. I am personally a fictional and that's where I excel and if I focus on more narrative based book, I believe I can achieve a better result. In order to be appreciate and take value on the history and importance of this format of books, I decided to focus on the aspect of how Chapbooks originally were meant for a younger audiences but in turn that into fictitious fueled narrative;

The Chapbook:A Story of Two Chaps

That is the tittle I am going. Two lads growing in Britain, going through life and ultimate growing and facing the reality of age and what it truly means growing up.

It is going contain both and Prose and Poetry to tell the tale in a wider world and explore the different stages in different formats, hopefully some images as well

I am excited to work on this as my progression route is media production and main career path is writing. Fingers crossed/
