Website Research for my own Website
In order to further develop my website for the major project, i decided to research what other writer's do for there website and see if I can take inspiration from their work to further develop mine.
The first writer's website I decided to look into is Andy Barton. Andy has simplistic design that utilizes a lot of white space. The white space emphasizes what he has written and does not distract the viewer. Although what he has written is a lot and the reader might not read all that so I might not use that much volume for my about me page. His home page is simple and has only two words that lead to his Portfolio and about pages. Him only having a picture of himself further adds to the simplicity as both in desktop and mobile view, you can not scroll the home page and you can only chose where to go. His portfolio page is the same as about page but contains images to with them almost giving it a blog like feel. What I plan to take from this site is a single color scheme background and the contact page as it is simple form.

Beth Demmon is writer for hire or known as free lance writer. Her website is the most similar to what I had in mind. It has a header that contains the tabs/page links. It's footer contains it's email and some important information while the main body has images and showcases some stuff that the writer has done.Going to her 'My work' page (which is her portfolio) it only shows the brands she's worked with and not her actual work and for that she provided a 'full portfolio' button on the bottom which leads to a contently page which contains her actual work. I will not be using an external website for my work but will be using clickable images as way to access my work on website in my portfolio page. Her Mobile view is well optimized as it contains a sidebar which acts a the tabs page for easy access and that is something I will be incorporating.

Similarities and differences between the two websites
Both Andy and Beth's websites have similarities that I want to talk about. They both use a white color scheme for majority of their pages as to further emphasize their writings but Beth utilizes a lot of different images on her website to act as background fillers. Beth has a picture of her self only on her about me page but Andy has his front and center on his home page but both writers have a wall of text as their about me which I will not be incorporating as website viewers may not be interested in reading a wall of text that only talks about yourself. Another thing to note that Andy does not have any social media buttons on his website but Beth does on her contact page. I also plan to do the same as to give my audience a different way to connect to me. Both writer's also utilize serif typography for almost all forms of text in their website but I would be using mixture of both forms as to draw importance in certain texts and help ease the viewer's reading experience in other. Overall after looking at both websites and analyzing them, I will take what I believe would be better for my website but will discard what I feel aren't necessary as I mentioned above.
